5th Annual Retreat

A good time was had by BVQ members other quilting friends who attended BVQ’s 5th annual retreat on the weekend of April 17 - 19, 2009. Once again this year, we enjoyed sewing, fun, food, laughs and friendship at the Black Rock Retreat Center in Quarryville, Pennsylvania.

New Member Tea

Our annual New Member Tea for 2009 was held on Saturday afternoon May 16, at the Special Teas Tea Room, in the Olde Ridge Village Shoppes in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

Four members who joined the Guild since last year's tea were our guests. Twelve other BVQ members attended. Everyone enjoyed the tea and tea sandwiches, and the opportunity to get to know each other a little better.

July Sew-A-Thon

BVQ members Lillian, Betty Jean and Mary Ann with Lyn Gill of Stockings for Soldiers (right), at the July, 2009 BVQ meeting. (Scroll down for more pictures from the July Sew-a-thon)   BVQ's July 2009 meeting was held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in north Wilmington, where members spent the afternoon and evening working on their own sewing projects or community service projects such as Stockings for Soldiers and pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer. By the October meeting, we had made over 500 stockings! We were thrilled to have exceeded our initial goal of 100 stockings.

We received a lovely thank you note from Lyn Gill of Stockings for Soldiers, who invited us to stop by the old Patterson-Schwartz building in Branmar Plaza in North Wilmington during October and November and help to sew more stockings or fill them with goodies for the troops.
