Cut one 4 7/8" square

With right sides together, pin one 4 7/8" bright red (or pink or lavendar) square and one 4 7/8" white square together, draw a line down the center from opposite corners, stitch ¼" on both sides of the line and then cut on the line drawn between the stitches.
Stitch the 2 ½" yellow square to the 2 ½" white square and then stitch to the 2 ½" x 4 ½" white rectangle.
The units are essentially completed. Looking at the sample, correctly pin the square units together to form the tulip and stitch.
Stitch the remaining pieces as seen.

Keep in mind:
Use 100 % cotton fabrics for the block.
Wash the fabrics before cutting the quilt pattern. Do not use fabrics that bleed or run.
Stitch all seams ¼".
Press seams toward the dark fabric unless the pattern dictates otherwise.

Tip of the Month -- Store quilts using a cardboard tube covered with acid free tissue paper. Tubes from gift wrapping paper are excellent for small wall quilts.
