Cut one 3 3/4" x 7 ¼" rectangle Cut five 2 3/4" squares |
| White tone-on-tone print:
Cut one 3 3/4" square Cut four 2 ¼" squares |
| Mark the diagonal on the wrong side of the four white 2 ¼" squares. With right sides together, pin one small white square to the upper left hand corner of the red monochromatic rectangle, draw a diagonal line from opposite corners (lower left to upper right), stitch on the line and then cut ¼" from the stitching line on the side towards the upper left corner. Looking at the sample, do the same for the upper right corner of the same red rectangle.
Do the same for the red print rectangle. For the 9-patch area, pin two red print squares to one red monochromatic square and stitch. Stitch the remaining rows and then stitch the rows together. Pin and stitch the red monochromatic rectangle unit to the top of the 9-patch. Pin and stitch the large white square to the red print rectangle unit. Stitch this unit to the right side of the 9-patch unit. |
