Block of the Month -- March, 2004
EASYGOING

This simple pattern would be wonderful for large floral prints.
Block Size -- 6" x 8" finished (6½" x 8½" with seam allowance)

The guild encourages all members to participate in this monthly raffle. It is a fun way to “get your feet wet” quilting and everyone enjoys the chance to win enough blocks for a quilt top. Please take the time to measure and sew accurately. It is very hard to sew together blocks that are not the same measurement. Most guild members would be more than happy to help you get started if you are unsure about how to begin. Let's take our time -- even experienced quilters can have an off day at the sewing machine.

March 2004 Block of the Month -- Easygoing
one option of putting the blocks together

Juvenile print (farm and zoo animals, nature, careers, insects, transportation, hobbies, sports, etc. The age group is about 4 to 12 years. No Baby Prints:
Cut one 6½" square

Bright plain or monochromatic print that matches one color in the juvenile print:
Cut one 2½" x 6½" rectangle

Sew the juvenile print to the plain fabric.

Keep in mind:
Use 100 % cotton fabrics for the block.
Wash the fabrics before cutting the quilt pattern. Do not use fabrics that bleed or run.
Stitch all seams ¼".
Press seams toward the dark fabric unless the pattern dictates otherwise.

Make the blocks all the same or different. Make a lot of blocks!

Tip of the Month -- Pull the quilting thread enough to remove the slack but not enough to cause puckers.
