Block of the Month -- November, 2002
CHURN DASH

Think of this pattern as your Thanksgiving Day dinner.
Block Size -- 12" finished (12½" with seam allowance)

November Block of the Month -- Churn Dash  
Dark Brown Print Fabric:
Cut two 4 7/8" squares for the turkey
 
Gold Print Fabric:
Cut four 2 ½" x 4 ½" rectangles for the squash
 
Orange Print Fabric:
Cut one 4 ½" square for the pumpkin pie
 
White Print Fabric:
Cut four 2 ½" x 4 ½" rectangles and
Cut two 4 7/8" squares for the tablecloth
 
With right sides together, pin one 4 7/8" dark brown square and one 4 7/8" white square together, draw a line down the center from opposite corners, stitch ¼" on both sides of the line and then cut on the line drawn between the stitches.
Do the same for the other 4 7/8" dark brown square and the 4 7/8" white squares.
With right sides together, pin one gold and one white rectangle together and stitch the longer of the sides together. Do the same for the other gold and white rectangles.
All of the pieces units are now made.
Looking at the top row of the sample, pin the squares together and stitch. Stitch the remaining rows as seen. Then stitch the rows together.

Keep in mind:
Use 100 % cotton fabrics for the block.
Wash the fabrics before cutting the quilt pattern. Do not use fabrics that bleed or run.
Stitch all seams ¼".
Press seams toward the dark fabric unless the pattern dictates otherwise.
